A New Tradition

It is December 1st!  We are beginning a new tradition in our family, a sort of "warm & fuzzy advent calendar" if you will.  I stole the idea from Pinterest last winter and have been chomping at the bit for 12 months to be able to start this in our home.

It is called the Kindness Elves.  Asher named our elf Elsa, and Elsa surprises Asher every day up until Christmas with ideas for nice things to do for our friends, family and community.  Turns out this is actually a great way to get Asher to nap too (had I known this we would have started the damn Kindness Elves in October).  When I picked him up from preschool today I introduced him to Elsa, explained that while he sleeps she thinks of fun things that they can do together, and that when he wakes up we get to do a project or go on an adventure.  But it only works if you sleep.  And let me tell you what, this kid, who has not gone down for a nap gracefully in over two months, fell asleep immediately and took a 2 hour nap.

They have to dry overnight.  Tomorrow we will string them up on our trees.
