I love fall. My three favorite things about fall are: 1) Pumpkin patches and other harvest-related activities, 2) Leaves, and 3) The transition from warm weather cooking to cold weather cooking. In our house, the first day of fall is the first time you make risotto for dinner. Mmm winter food is the best.
This weekend has been full of all of my favorite things. Yesterday we drove to Moriarty and checked out the epic McCall's Pumpkin Patch. When we got home we baked brownies and made homemade cider in the crockpot for a small group of my favorite Albuquerquians who came over last night to make fleece tie blankets for the Linus Project (3 bottles of wine and a pan of brownies later we had 6 blankets to donate!). P.S. if you need a good cold weather activity: http://www.projectlinus.org. Ben bottled his cider, this morning we went on a Bosque walk, truly, life is good.
Here are some pictures from our adventures:
PUMPKIN PATCH
Checking out Silkie Chickens (yay).
Asher was obsessed with this train.
So we decided to take him on his first train ride. Parent fail. Asher is so not ready for train rides.
How we rode for the entire 6 minute ride, quietly whimpering.
Sorry baby. Someday you will love trains, until then, we will just observe them from a safe distance.
Running for his life away from the train station.
Ben's 6th spidey sense saw this guy. The picture doesn't do it justice. He was the size of Asher's fist. Tarantula?
Hey Handsomes
Being a goof in the car the whole way home.
River walk. Cottonwoods in Albuquerque might be my favorite things in nature.
