Family Photo!

Mom sent a copy of my favorite photo from our Christmas trip- the whole gang with the coastal oaks.

Birds (Julia, I apologize....)

Animals make me happy.

Goofy, weird animals make me more than happy.  Enter: pelicans.  The goofiest birds ever.  Watching them feels like watching cartoons characters scramble about.  Oh my gosh.  My heart exploded at Goose Island State Park.

Giant crane flying in to join a pelican...

Perhaps the ugliest bird?  These vultures were bad ass.  They sat perched with their wings out like this... very intimidating....we were scared.

The pelicans hung out like a big angry mob where the fishermen brought in their catch to be cleaned.  I could have watched them for hours.

Camping!

Asher went on his first camping trip in Texas!  After a few days in Houston, we all packed up and drove about three hours south to Goose Island State Park in Rockport.  It was an awesome site, right on the water and near a pier with lots of fishing.  We saw hundreds of pelicans and cranes (oh don't worry, there will be an entire post devoted to the coastal birds that won my heart) and ate oysters, crab stuffed jalapenos, and breakfast burritos at Rosita's.  Yep.  It was amazing.

He talked to his lion for a good part of the drive.  Thank you Auntie Mallory :)

Our beach casa.

In our camper.  It wouldn't be an Asher picture if his eyes weren't wide open and he didn't have food all over his face.

The second day was pretty rainy, but that was okay.  Mom needed some extra resting time and we got to snuggle in the camper.

Hanging out together at the shore.

Josiah is a lasso master.  Got himself all wrapped up :)

Cupcakes + Camping + Christmas = 3 magic C's

Hilary takes such good care of my mom :)

We went to see the biggest coastal oak (it was humongous,  the pictures don't do it justice...)

Huge.

Mmm our lunch spot- shrimp, oysters, crab stuffed jalapenos, cold beer... can't go wrong.
