Stinker

Newsworthy Events in the Olson House:

*Asher can pull himself from sitting independently to a standing position (with zero help from us).
'Wee Baby' is being renamed 'Hee Baby' as this is a skill he is not supposed to be strong enough to accomplish for at least another 2 months.  Luckily, he was being supervised when he did this yesterday in his playpen, although I still almost had a heart attack when I saw him standing with his hands gripping the edge and a big 'Look what I can do!' grin on his face.

*Ben is brewing a pumpkin ale and hard cider- the first harbingers of fall!

*We are making friends! This morning Asher and I met up with about a dozen mommy-baby pairs at a donut shop by our house.  It was great meeting new people.

*Asher is still devouring steak, but we have his next food all pureed up- he'll try the slightly more traditional sweet potato as his next food :)

I couldn't figure out why he kept wiggling sideways to the same place
in his crib during every nap yesterday...

Then I saw this.  Baby was trying to rescue his pacifier.  'Man down mom!'

'No! No Pengins on the playmat!'

Harlan snoozing among Asher's toys

We had another poop situation yesterday.  In the middle of being fed sirloin, Asher let out an audible 'I just pooped my pants' noise.  The most common question I've asked myself for the last 6 months popped into my head, 'Ummm... what the heck do I do now?!' (and yes, there IS an exclamation mark after the question mark because these situations always involve urgency in one way or another).  Where do you lay down a boy covered in slobbery beef remnants so that you can address an equally unappetizing situation in his diaper?  This took some creativity on my part (lunacy, wastefulness, scrappy haphazard panic could all replace the word 'creativity' here...), but we got it taken care of.

'Um mom, I know we're in the middle of something here,
but I think I might have just pooped a little...'

'Hehe yep I definitely just pooped a little.  Squish squish.'

'Our situation has changed, I pooped A LOT!  Move! Move! Move!'
