We just returned from an amazing vacation in Oahu. Hawaii was awesome: it was warm, beautiful, relaxing, and fun. We clocked ten hours of sleep each night (okay not Ben, but the rest of us), started our days with leisurely walks on the beach and smoothie bowls, and then adventured around the island for nine days. It was hard to leave, but we spent our first day back readjusting the way our family knows best- with our Saturday routine of Chipotle and the climbing gym. It's no 82 degree weather with sea turtles, but it'll do.
The boys loved the water. We had a bunch of waterfall hikes planned and went on zero of them. They were dolphins and wanted to be in the water from dawn until dusk- we happily obliged.
These photos are from our first night on the island. We rented a home from a gentleman named Dean and his family just outside of Haleiwa on the North Shore. It was a wonderful surprise to learn they have 4-year old twins who the boys loved playing with at night. The house was perfect for us- it allowed us to cook (a must when traveling with food allergies) and was right on the ocean with a private beach. The boys never swam in the ocean on our beach though, it was the biggest swell of the year and the waves were massive (see later post from Waimea Bay with 30+ foot waves).
Up and ready for the 9 hour flight to Honolulu!
The drive to Haleiwa from Honolulu.
Arrived. This was our deck- ate breakfast and dinner here every night.
Our house.
Coconuts are shaped like footballs. You know how this story ends.
