These Days are Good

Isn't it nice when you have those days where everything just seems to work?

Our lives the last few months have been so unpredictable and reactionary and on edge... while there have been lots of moments and hours that have been lovely... the whole day of perfection has been a less frequent event.  Not to seem ungrateful, "perfect" days with a 2 year old are not something one expects... which is why it is so awesome when they happen.   Another side note is that 'perfect' is really "as good as it can be with Ben in Albuquerque".  Because days when we are 1,000 miles from Ben are not perfect days.  BUT.  All of that being said.  Today was a good, good day.

We had Caribou with Grandma, sent Daddy a present, played with Auntie Tractor, Aidan, & Mac, perfected somersaults, & visited an amazing nature-based preschool with Auntie Mingo.  I even managed to do a considerable amount of work, a good thing as we found out this week that we were randomized to the January 1, 2016 start date for the CMS innovation grant we were recently awarded.   The neighbor who will be spending time with Asher while I work during the day starts tomorrow (yay!) as his new babysitter, but I owe a very big 'thank you' to Karen for having been so incredible about watching Asher while I have meetings and doctors appointments up until now.  It is no small task to take in a high maintenance pregnant lady and a higher maintenance 2-year old, but she does it with such grace and love.  What would we do without family?

Nature-based preschool: WHAT?!  This is an OPTION?!

4th of July

Ben came in for a nice long 4th of July weekend trip.  We spent most of it in Mankato, and my Aunt Pat and Uncle Mike were visiting from California.  Which equals awesome.

Doin' farm stuffs.

Hanging out with the herd.

Har & Lulu's Hotel.

Our little family.

Eating  wild berries.

Grandma Jo screaming around on the JD.

Boating!

First time fishing!

Learning how to cast.

Jumping in the lake (really, he jumped in the lake!)

We got three swim diapers happening in this picture.  Amazing.

Aunt Pat's from-scratch pineapple cream pie.  Goodness.  Gracious.

Back in the cities- walking around Lake Como.  So happy to be up on daddy's shoulders.

8 months pregnant + hot humid days + 30 extra pounds/front heavy =
Can I ride on someone's shoulders?

Stomping Around Roseville

We are continuing to have a lovely summer in Minnesota :)

Asher likes lining stuff up.

Whatchoo lookin' at?

Squirt gun.  This is not good.

 Loves his pretty 'brella.

Good news on the baby front :)

Today was the first of my from-here-on-out weekly "bionic pregnancy appointments"  - these are scheduled monitoring appointments that are more for the baby than for me. They do a biophysical profile, ultrasound and non-stress test.  I'll be getting labs done weekly to check my platelets (which, as luck would have it, are edging slowly but surely towards the "no epidural/spinal anesthesia zone").  And then I'll touch base with a perinatalogist after each.  Luckily, for how much my body is turning itself inside out, it is apparently still doing a stand up job at providing a nest for Littlest Olson.

He is healthy and has the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen on a 32 week pipsqueak.

Monitoring moms heart, baby's heart, and contractions.

'Look mom! No contractions!'
...Although I have started Braxton Hicks, which are a lovely reminder of what labor feels like.
Which makes me VERY hopeful that an epidural is on the table should I need it
(come on platelets, do your damn job!).

If you need me, I'll be in this exam room for 2-3 hours every Friday from here until the arrival of the world's most carefully & closely watched unborn child (...which, if all goes as planned, should be August 27th).

Somersaults

Asher has learned how to somersault... kind of...sometimes.

:)
