Ode to Herbert

We rescued Harlan from a rescue when he was 10 weeks old. I argued with the rescue owner for weeks about getting to bring him home, she even upped his price because she knew how bad I wanted him. When Ben and I got to the house the rescue was based out of it was clear the puppies were not being taken care of, we actually considered taking one of Harlan's sisters and always wished we had after his litter mates died of parvo shortly after we brought him home :(  For a while Harlan was sick and couldn't eat, the vet said they hadn't been given any shots and he needed to be dewormed. But after a few short weeks, Harlan settled into his life with us -- and from there on out, lived a life of comfort and squishiness.

He was the very best. We miss him every day.
