Asher's 6.

You might be thinking to yourself, "I know, he turned 6 in February!". You would be correct. His amazingly organized mom apparently uploaded a picture of him on his birthday as a placeholder (see below) but never wrote the post.

Dear Asher,

You are six years old (and three months... but shhh). Right now your favorite things to do are art projects, woodworking with dad, rock climbing, planting gardens, and arguing. Like all the time. While you drive us a little bit crazy, it is really awesome to see you have such strong opinions and be so confident at such a young age. You speak with conviction (even when you are telling us you have $400 or that there are only three days left of school... neither of which are true) and you are usually fighting for the underdog. Oh and another 6-year-old Asher characteristic: you can't get enough fish. Your favorite thing to eat right now is salmon, and you've taken to even eating the skin. Which might explain your sudden increased ability to form strong arguments. Maybe we should eat more fish so we can fight back :)

You are a sensitive, sweet soul who feels all the feels. Your emotions are strong and they are apparent and you lead with authenticity and passion. Watching you grow up during your first year of elementary school has been amazing. You read now! You also think critically about things and problem solve. Your brain is just exploding and you are loving being in school and learning something new every day.

You are an incredibly caring and thoughtful big brother, and Sully loves you so much. You two are never apart, and it is the best watching you become better and better friends.

If I were to go out into my living room right now and sit in my chair, which is in a corner, surrounded by windows, I would see big hearts drawn on the glass with "I love mom" written inside. You remind me every day how lucky I am to be your mom. And I am so proud of the little person that you are. You have an energy and a love of all things beautiful that makes you so special, and I can't wait to see you become more and more the person who you are.

I love you so much. You are the very best.

Love,
Mom
